FAQs

Is Massage Therapy covered by benefits?

1

Yes! Most benefit packages cover Registered Massage Therapy. Check with your HR department or Insurance company for more information.

Is Massage Therapy SAFE during the first trimester?

2

Short answer, yes, massage therapy is safe during the first trimester and there is no evidence to support that massage during the first trimester causes any adverse effects during pregnancy. That being said, it is what YOU are most comfortable with.

Is Massage Therapy a regulated health profession?

3

The practice of massage therapy is regulated under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA) and is therefore a Regulated Health Profession.  Only individuals who have completed the requisite training and have met the strict competency requirements of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) can call themselves a “Massage Therapist” or a “Registered Massage Therapist”.

When looking for a registered treatment, ensure that the therapist uses one of these two titles and ask to see their CMTO registration certificate.
